Micronora 2006 confirms
its position as Europe's leading
industrial microtechnology trade fair
For more than 30 years, Micronora has evolved to become
a trade fair that is unique in its concept and content, and
today stands out as the biggest European microtechnology trade
fair. The fair has affirmed its trade fair aspects and strengthened
its internationalisation. The zoom on nanotechnology brought
together major industrial and university actors working in research
and development.
Key figures of the 2006 edition
From 26 to 29 September last, in Besançon, Micronora
2006, 16th international microtechnology trade fair, brought
together 990 exhibitors (596 direct and 394
indirect exhibitors) of whom 35% were foreign exhibitors.
Although the number of visitors, 15 272 professional
visitors in 2006, was the same as for the previous
edition (14718 in 2004), everyone, exhibitors as well as visitors,
acknowledged the quality of the contacts, thanks to the presence
of many French, Swiss and German decision-makers.
While wandering around, exhibitors and visitors noticed an increase
in the technicality of the products displayed this year. In
this positive environment, exhibitors signed several contracts
during the fair.
On an international level, the percentage of foreign
visitors increased slightly: 11 % in 2006
(10 % in 2004). They came from 40 different countries, the majority
being from Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland,
Italy, Russia and India.
A 2006 edition rich in memorable events
Inauguration by Christian Estrosi
As a testament to State interest in microtechnology, Christian
Estrosi, Minister of regional development and co-creator of
Competitiveness Clusters with Nicolas Sarkozy, inaugurated
the exhibition on Tuesday 26th September.
A nanozoom was devoted to nanotechnology (nanomaterials)
400 companies throughout the world, 120 in Europe, 30
at Micronora.
By combining research and industry –
for the first time in France at an industrial trade
fair, we hope that this "nanozoom" gave
many companies the opportunity to move into the "nanoworld",
the next frontier to be conquered by industry in the years
to come.
European Brokerage Event on micro and nanotechnology
120 participants (+ 20% compared with 2004)
– 90% of which were companies and 10% laboratories and
research centres (54% foreign) – took part in the 320
targeted meetings (+60% compared with 2004).,
11 different nationalities took part in this
event:
France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Poland,
Sweden, Austria, United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
